Stephen Dattels is a prominent business figure, with significant mining sector experience. Having been involved in several lucrative and recognisable mining ventures, he has translated his success into charitable donation and philanthropic efforts.
Together with his wife Jennifer and his children Graham and David, Stephen Dattels has made a serious commitment to the support of projects in Canada and overseas that lie close to the family’s heart. The Dattels Family Foundation was created in 2009 and provides a source of funding for those projects which are involved in the areas of conservation, international aid, and education. The foundation also provides funding for other important areas for charitable efforts, such as healthcare. Recent donations include support of the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre in Toronto and the Trans Canada Trail.
Stephen Dattels’ family members form the Board of Directors for the Foundation, and together they assess and select avenues for collaboration and funding. His family also ensures that the high standard set by Stephen Dattels’ corporate experience and vision is met in the Foundation’s work.
Stephen Dattels has been a senior mining executive of a number of established firms, being involved in international mining markets for more than 30 years. He has founded several successful resource companies and has served as a director the boards of several leading firms such as the Barrick Gold Corporation.
His sons Graham and David have also been successful in their respective careers, the former distinguishing himself with a career with the Canadian Government in aid programme administration and the latter being the CEO of NewGen Asset Management in Toronto.
